Spring 2012

It's been ages since I've been here, and it ain't been an easy time. Currently I'm in so much pain that I just had to stop kidding myself that I can manage. Yesterday the lovely Donna, my cleaning lady came for her second visit. I'm amazed at how good my flat looks with so little work done by someone who has the capacity to do it. She did say to me she was surprised at how organised things were and realised it was just because I wasn't painfree enough to put things away that caused the deluge of clutter.

I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow about the increasing pain I'm in and to be honest, I am worried about what is causing it. For 3 weeks now, I'm in too much pain to be able to stand and cook. It's just yogurts, fruit and delivered take outs. Not good. But I'm going to be brave and deal with it.

But I'm goiong to be positive about the future especially as the good news is that for the first time in ages I have a bit money to spend.

My first major expense was a new computer. Well a new refurbished 14" Apple ibook which replaced my much loved 12" ibook which bit the dust after being contaminated with builders rubble. I'm delighted I made this purchase. As much as I love Apple products, I'm really a bit jaded by their insistence on being seen only as the Louis Vitton of the computer world. This insistence of dropping support for products, still worth hundreds of dollars that work perfectly well and will do for maybe another 5 maybe 10 years. Considering most of us use our domestic laptops just to surf the net, social networking, check finances, send a couple of emails, YouTube and and maybe manage a blog or online store hardly pushes these machines to their limits. I really think it's the green thing to do. I think Apple are on to this too which is why they're now producing machines that are more difficult to repair and replace parts and with aluminium bodies.  Get a used Apple in a polycarbonate body. It's second life will will probably outlast a cheap netbook and you'll still be quids in, and there's a great community of Used Mac users out there working to keep the software and hardware alive. Thanks guys.

Now my flat is more getting more useable I can seriously consider getting stuck into my hobbies and improve the quality of my life. I think this blog is going to be a great record of getting all these projects up and running. I have to go and check out some tailors dummies to see which would best suit my frame but I need to be able to walk through the store to be able to do this which is a bit difficult at the moment.

There's also going to be some improvements in the kitchen. It was  refurbished 3 years ago and I bought a tall breakfast bar and stools. Unfortunately now I cannot get up on the stools as my knees and ankles have deteriorated since then. Donna is going to have the stools, they are beautifully designed in chrome and I'll get some lower ones, that I don't have to climb up to sit on. But once I have those installed, cooking maybe more available to me as I will be able to sit while I cook and prepare food. I'll also be able to return to painting if I can comfortable sit on a stool. There's going to be some welcome changes in the kitchen too. More to look forward to. Things are looking up.

I will be rethinking the furniture in the lounge. Think it's time I got myself a decent armchair. I've always really been a lounge on the sofa girl. But to be hones, it's getting more and more difficult to get comfortable. Hmm, think I need a better medical prognosis before I move on that.

Lastly in the bedroom, once I've finished filing all the papers laying around on my 'sewing table', (inches thick when you include the legal stuff that's piling up), I can finally start sewing again once I've my tailors dummy and using my much longed for knitting machine. Oh, there's been so much I wanted to do and it's been pain and mess preventing me from getting stuck in.

Lastly, I'll be honest. I've never been able to get my phone a Sony Ericsson to send photos to my blog. I'd love to be able to sort this, but hopefully when my contract is up in June I'll get a smashing smart phone which seems to be the de riguere tool for updating blogs and twitter.

Lots to look forward to.
